Product Information A professional tracking force gauge designed for vinyl enthusiasts interested in a more accurate measurement of vertical tracking force (VTF). For accurate VTF measurement, the stylus tip should be in the same vertical position as the record surface - that is, at "record level". With Riverstone's professional VTF gauge, the vertical tracking force is measured approximately 2mm to 3mm from the surface of a turntable mat or platter - which is the height of a stylus tip resting on an LP record (LP records have a thickness range of 1.9mm to 2.9mm). And with this VTF gauge, you don't need to remove your turntable mat - the gauge's arm places the stylus tip at the correct height. Cheaper gauges typically have a stylus tip measurement distance between 6 and 10mm - leading to errors in tracking force measurement. To reduce interaction with magnets in MM and MC cartridges, the VTF gauge is made of durable plastic and the removable cantilever extension arm is made of a non-ferromagnetic grade of stainless steel. Two calibration weights (5g and 20g) are included for recalibration (1 minute procedure). With larger calibration weights (not included), the gauge can be recalibrated for use up to 100g. A polymer pad on the measuring platform protects the stylus tip and allows for precise centering of the stylus on the measuring platform. The LED display (green) is bright and easy to read. A very detailed instruction manual is included. Overall dimensions: 52mm (W) x 91mm (L) x 12.0mm (H); the height measurement is with the lid removed. NOTE: Although no tools are required, installing the record-level extension arm requires some technical knowledge. A tin storage box is included to protect the VTF gauge when not in use.
